Who can get head lice? | NitWits

Who is at risk for getting head lice?

In general, head lice can affect any human with hair despite their age, hair type, hair length, social status and hygiene habits. They are, however, most common amongst school-aged children from ages 3-11, who tend to engage in more head-to-head contact while playing together at school.

Head lice normally spread by crawling from one person to another and attaching themselves to the strands of hair close to the scalp to feed and survive. They do not jump or fly as some might think! Once lice attach themselves to the hair, they can be transmitted to other members of the household through direct head-to-head contact and can continue to spread to others if not treated.

Knowledge is key!

If your child’s friends have head lice, or if your child is getting an itchy head, check the hair for any signs of lice or nits to treat and prevent further infestation.

Fortunately, with the right treatment, you can kill the lice and eggs in one go to end their life cycle and stop the spread. Check out NitWits All-In-One Head Lice Treatment for an easy, effective way to treat head lice with no need to comb.
